Limecell is a band that i really like but this album seems to be created in the sole atempt to not please me. Released inbetween two good full-lengths this little EP makes hardly any impact and lacks anything really interesting. Both songs later got featured on Destroy the underground CD. If Roadkill and Drunk again would have featured this EP i would have loved it but now it just takes up space in my recordcollection.

ATLAST!!!!! Many foreign orders and some hard searching around the globe my Limecell discography is now completed! There is probably some rare compilation album somewhere with a Limecell track i dont own but for now i am satisfied.

These tracks where all featured on the Mad Skull records Venom tribute release in 2004.

To be honest i have never been a big fan of Venom or bands like them but they have surelly been a big inspiration on a lot of bands that i like and that is clear when i hear Limecell's coversongs.

Hammerlock delivers an ok song that is close to the original but not really any good.
Limecell sounds as they always do. Mental and pissed. Buried alive is one of those typical "whispering" metal tracks by Venom but Limecell makes it rise up from its grave. Awesome drums and Kevin as pissed as always it just cant go wrong. Kicking it up a notch on the last song with blazing guitars and a heavy drumbeat they end up putting Venom to shame instead of making a tribute to them.
Great 7'' that was sold out years ago.

A low quality release on an Australian record company with a major name in the Australian punk scene The blurters. Not much to have on Limecells side more then 1 exclusive track (Daily grind) and a live version of the old classic Crack hooker. The blurters on side B is a great band and 2 of the members that where on this release later started the skinhead band Bulldog Spirit. Porno star is a great track that gives voice to every horny teen boys dream of one day being a pornstar (oh was it just me that had that one?). Thinking off putting together an Aussieofoiofsweden site anyone intressted haha.

Limecell really took some time on creating this cover. I mean they baked the cockies and then arranged them in sadistic ways you just gotta love dedication like that haha.
Limecells side is great and both tracks are 100% exclusive to this split. Their second song Part of the herd is an instant classic with hard slamming drums and great lyrics to match.
The B-side is split with an American female fronted punkrock band by the name of Savage 3-D. Never heard of them before i bought this split and to my knowledge this is the only release they ever did. Not really my thing and the singer really bugs me going from up and down in voice like some bad copy of early Nirvana. They also thought it was a great idea to put an echo on her singing everytime she yells. Not a good idea.

This was actually the first release ever by Ruff-nite records that would go on to release records by such groups as Antiseen and also the Swedish group Demons.
This was their fourth 7'' and they are here again on their a bit faster rougher sound. Both Rat fink and Just plain pissed! (in a live version) would later go on to be released on full-lengths but not their B-side Alien baby. It is easy to see how since its a bit to experimental and way to much "guitar masturbation", my guess is that it was mostly a song to fill out this record.

The second release by the band and a bit nicer then most of their other earlier releases. The album starts of great with the track Got it made (has that typical Limecell sound) but slows down on the second track (actually checked my pitch to se if had the right speed on the turntable). All in all a good record but kind of soft comparred to their Crack hooker and Sefltitled 7''s.

Limecell and Sons of liberty - AO tribute Split 7'' (2005)

This is a wierd album to say the least. This is basically the same band with different drummer and vocalist in all three. As metioned before Steve and Bob used to play guitar and bass in Arresting officers and after the breakup of the band they started Limecell and around 2001 they started the band Sons of liberty as another project.
It feel a lot like singing "happy birthday" for yourself but its nice to see that they are not ashamed off their earlier musical roots.

Limecells side is the better one (since i always liked Kevins vocals better then Lon's) but i dont understand their changing off the lyics. They make a song about illegal immigrants and replace the word immigrant with terrorists. I dont understand nothing since the last time i checked terrorists didnt undermine the security off the workingmans rights or leech off taxmoney. They are often somewhat financially stable lunatics that like to blow things up.
If this is some kind off way to cash in on the "war on terror" i think its a stupid move but great cover anyway. Fun to hear Kevins voice to this old classic.
Sons of liberty covers one off my favourite tracks but thanks to Lon's voice it sounds like rubbish. This band has some great songs but not this track.

(Update March 2010) By accident Dim records added a track by Hated and proud instead of SOL's song. This mistake resulted in 3 ugly (but from what i have heard great sounding) copies from the testpressing. After noticing the mistake the SOL track was added and this was the result. As you might understand i would really like to get my hands on one off these 3 testprintings so if you have it e-mail me.

Another powerfull release by these misfits. Not as great as the previous release but good nonetheless. They have slowed down the tempo without loosing their hard edge and the lyrics are as fucked up as always. They make a tribute to Jeffrey Dahmer (the cannibal massmurderer) on the track Rage and another tribute track on The Lariat dedicated to the redneck wrestler Stan Hansen calling him the "Proud and ugly American".
Best tracks are Fair one talking about how great it was back in the days when you could have a fistfight without someone pulling out a gun and the track Working mans a sucker that for a change doesnt glorify us lazy bastards that never got the balls to go to college and now piss our lifes away at some shitjob (sad song but true).

But Limecells side is pure happines. One of my favourite punk bands making a cover of one of the greatest british acts ever. And on top of that one of the best songs by that group.

A new lineup for this record. Pat was replaced by Eric Perfect on drums and benny jumped in on backup guitar (giving the band a whole new faster sound).

This is my favourite record by the band and in my oppinion doesnt contain one bad track and the few that are recycled from their old albums are some of my old favourites.
Kevin is on fire on this record and drops some great vocals and even greater lyrics. From party songs with a urinal twist in P is for party to the day after when his boss wants him to give a Piss test. He smothes the party and beer lyrics off with a more mellow track about housecleaning and other things in Get the bitch to do it.
If you can find it then buy it.

After 4 years of a bunch off halfass splits, liverecords and dedication albums they finally released a new full-lenght. But this is far from the old sound and their Motörhead influences really shines through especially on the fifth track (just listen to the first 30 seconds and youll know what im talking about).
Even if i think this is their weakest release some tracks rise above (Roadkill and Drunk again).
Around the same time as this album was released Steve and Bob would start up another pure Oi! project called Sons of liberty but more about them later.

Band from Philly formed by Kevin (vocals), Pat (drums), Bob (guitar) and Steve (bass) way back in 1993. Bob and Steve used to play in the Oi! band Arresting officers and joined up with Kevin that is Steves old brother that just got out of the marines. They all worked at the same warehouse loading trucks the first years the band was active and this was where a lot of the songs was thought up.
They took their name from an old torturesystem that prisons used back in the early 1900. They smeared lime all over the cell and hoosed the cell with the inmate in it and this created a gas that would get into the pores and create a feeling of thousand of knifes stabbing your body (sounds pleasant).
There songs are mainly about personal issues like work, drinking, and fucking and for a band that hates crusty punks and beggars they have gotten themselfs a wierd following of GG. Allin fankids and squatters all joining up around their fuck-all attitude. Steve the bass played said it himself in an interview "I dont down nobody for their political beliefs but i dont want to smell the fucks when they stand next to me".

The sound is very close to that of The wretched ones and if i have to pick a favourite track it has to be the scarry positive song Lets do lunch.
A strong first release.
